Quality, Professional and Affordable Tree Surgery in Watlington, Princes Risborough and the Surrounding Areas

Residential and Commercial Services

Some of the tree surgery jobs we undertake include:

• Pruning

Whether to improve light filtration or to encourage new growth, pruning services, carried out by our professional tree surgeons, provide a number of benefits for a tree. However, irresponsible pruning, or performing such tasks at the wrong time of year, can seriously harm a tree and affect its growth and wellbeing.

• Crown Thinning

A heavy crown catches the wind like a sail. In extreme weather conditions, this can lead to a tree falling on properties or passersby. By thinning out the canopy, we reduce this sail effect, thereby lowering the risk of falling. Likewise, a heavy crown can prevent sunlight from filtering into your garden as effectively as a brick wall. We remove certain branches to increase light filtration.

• Crown Reduction and Reshaping

Our tree surgeons perform this task to help trees across Thame and Princes Risborough retain a specific crown shape, to improve stability and to keep branches away from your property and neighbouring gardens, as well as from overhead cables. As with crown thinning, our tree surgery experts remove limbs carefully to ensure regenerative growth.

• Pollarding

This can mean cutting back a tree and repeatedly pruning it to the same point, which creates a pollard knuckle. This ensures that shrubs and trees remain smaller than they would otherwise grow naturally. It also refers to reducing the spread and growth of a more mature tree, managing it in the future as a pollard.

• Felling

As responsible tree surgeons, we prefer to only fell a tree in Thame, Princes Risborough or Watlington if there is no other option. However, whether due to disease, death or property planning, sometimes felling is necessary. We perform both directional felling and sectional dismantling, depending on the space available.

• Planting

At Altom Tree Care Ltd, we provide a replacement tree planting service, including:

  • Bare Root Trees

  • Full Size Container-Grown Specimen Trees
